Our Committee

The BWCB committee is responsible for overseeing the financial management and policies for all BWCB bands, associate groups and their members. The committee is made up of the chair person, vice-chair person, secretary and treasurer, together with representatives from each of the bands and associate groups.

Hi, I’m Kate, chair of BWCB. I play clarinet in Concert Band and started playing with BWCB in 2008. Like many of us who joined in the beginning, we were parents of children who were involved in Music Centre bands. When the opportunity arose to join an adult band, we jumped at the chance. I have never looked back and now Wednesday night is band night.

I have been involved with BWCB since it was first proposed by Marc Edwards very nearly 20 years ago but I didn’t start playing in a band until Second Wind began 15 years ago (a gap of 46 years since I had a few clarinet lessons at school in what would now be Year 7). I’m still slightly amazed to find myself playing in a wind band with over 40 members.

I joined the band 4 years ago after returning from living abroad. When I retired 5 years ago I decided to take up the clarinet again having not played for about 44 years. I now play in several bands but of course Second Wind is my favourite 😀.

Jacquie plays the drum kit for Beaufort Band and Concert Band and has been a member of BWCB and a committee member from its very beginning. She initially joined BWCB as a flautist and switched to playing the drum kit 10 years ago.

I've been a member of Beaufort Band since the beginning, playing baritone sax.

I have also played flute in Concert Band since the early days, although I've recently moved over to baritone sax, where I'm really enjoying being part of the bass section.
